That Awesome Moment of Silence

Every mom and/or dad needs that certain time of the day or night when there is nothing but silence and no one at your heels asking for whatever and doing whatever. Also known as Me Time. Well, for me, that time is when the boys (Mini Buff and the Hubby) are in bed…sleeping.

I don’t know what other mom’s do with this time. Some may use it to finish chores, get some cleaning done, or just bum around. I am the bum. I get into my sweats, putz around the house for a while, play some iRO, read, or just watch some television. I’m extremely lazy when night roles around. And I totally deserve this time for myself. Every mother and/or father does (if you’re a dad walking around the house till 4am every night). I work, I take my son to preschool, I pick him up. That might not sound like a big deal but I walk back and forth to his school. That’s four trips. Long walk! Then I make dinner for the boys (Mini Buff and Hubby). After that I just wanna plop down and stare at the t.v.

So Me Time is very important to me. It’s my chill time. :mrgreen: My sister is having her baby sometime this year. Then it’ll be her turn to enjoy the luxury of Me Time. It’s the greatest time of the day if you ask me!

    I’m not a mom yet, (but I work with kids)… and I totally plan on having Me time when I have kids, and I too will probably use it to bum around the house. I think every mom (or dad) needs that time and should have that time.

    I am much too young to have kids, but I could totally see it from my mom’s point of view. When I’m at school, she probably just plops onto a couch and yells, “FINALLY!” Then does chores. xP

    I adore my me time. It starts when the twins go to sleep and included a glass of wine. Most of the time it’s spent online, but sometimes I’ll read or take a bath. Other times I’ll just veg on the couch in front of the TV. Every Saturday I work also, and I sort of consider that me time as Daddy watches the kids all day and puts them to bed. Who have though going to work would be me time? But it is!

    hi jen, this is a nice post. wht i do with “me time?” when am home i used it cleaning and arranging and sorting stuff inside my home or bedroom. i can last for many hours not feeling tired. :D when am at work…i can do a lot of things because am not interrupted.

    My me time comes right after they go to bed. Unfortunately I work form home, so that me time quickly mrphs into work time. LOL but at least it’s peaceful.

    My me time is spent blogging, or reading, or doing absolutely nothing. I watch tv too. I never feel guilty. I stinkin deserve it after what I do all day! Sometimes I’ll be productive, but when I’m not, I don’t care a bit. My husband wonders sometimes why I stay up so late when the kids all wake up so early in the morning… it’s because if I go to sleep, the me time is over. When I wake up, the kids are awake too!

    hmm… in my me time, I read, draw or come on here and bloghop and make random things. :) I would usually go for a wander down the road and buy myself a treat to, but now i have braces I cant. :(

    LOVE me time!! During Little Pea’s nap, while the other kids are at school, I use it to blog, catch up on the news, or finish chores. I work in the afternoons, so I couldn’t survive without it.

    Me Time is a must! It’s a good thing that you have Me Time every after a looong day. I work the whole day switching from work (my business is internet based) - chores & vise versa. For me, Me Time = Chocolate :razz:

    I have to confess my me time lately has been online texas hold’em! It relaxes me though so I figure it doesn’t hurt (plus I play at the free sites).

    I get my me time when I’m at work and Fil is at work. Granted phone calls are exchanged throughout the day but it is still nice to be alone!

    Good for you to include some time for yourself during whatever time of the day you can get it. If you don’t, you’re apt to start getting cranky - and that can lead to unhappiness, bickering, etc.
    Deepak Chopra says: “There is nothing more important than I am feeling happy’. That should be your mantra throughout the day.
    About my ‘me time’ - well, raising two lovely daughters, five years apart in age, was a growth experience and a character builder for me. I was able to take more ‘me time’ as they got older - I wouldn’t have had it happen any other way.
